No trick-or-treaters tonite. That's about average for us. We live in a neighborhood unconducive to that sort of thing. I guess I'll take the candy to work and feed the hyenas tomorrow
We've had maybe 35-40 kids mostly in groups. Doesn't compare to when we were kids. We'd fill up a couple of pillow sacks back when. When we had three or four people tell us it was getting a bit late, it was off to one of our houses and then then the fun part started, as we'd all get together and do the candy trades among us. Kids just don't know how rockin' it was back in the sixties and seventies....

    A new found appreciation....

This afternoon I had a 51/2X52 La Aroma De Cuba Belicoso cigar. This cigar has been resting in my 65% rh humidor since August 2012. After lighting this cigar I got cocoa, spice and a delicious creamy nuttiness. When I first tried this cigar in 2012 I thought that it was good, but I had another one in June of this year and again this afternoon and I have a new appreciation of this stick. The construction of this cigar was excellent with no problem veins, razor sharp burn and excellent draw. I sipped on this cigar and enjoyed the wispy smoke with all of its delightful flavors. I have been steadily depleting my humidors to make room for my expected cigar purchases before the end of the year and this is one cigar that I will buy again. I topped off this smoke with a large cup of hot coffee and I had a wonderful afternoon.

Big Nor'easter dumped 5" of rain and knocked out electric on Sunday night (~90 homes in my area). Of course my grandaughter was here through Halloween so Monday was without power and ~60 degrees indoors.

We were BS'd and given the run-around by PSEG (power company) until I asked my attorney friend to give them a call after they (again) changed their estimated time to restore service to 11pm Tuesday and that would have left my neighborhood dark for Halloween and without power for 2 days on a relatively minor outage.

Don't know what my friend said but suddenly they found the complaints from our neighborhood that they'd previously denied were made and 4 hours later the juice was flowing. My friend was told (off the record) that no extra crews or overtime was used on this outage. This company took over after LIPA took 15 days (14 for us) to restore power after Superstorm Sandy 5 years ago (almost to the day).

Previously wrote how GOOD my water company is. Storm caused their repair in the street to crater that could have broken an axle if a car hit it so I called them. 20 seconds after I hung up a tractor loaded with sand drove up with another truck and they repaired the hole. Huntington Water anticipated, checked and repaired. More Kudos and I wish they did power too!

I sat outside during part of the storm trying to get the Rocky Patels Broadleaf to act like cigars but they didn't. High moisture doesn't do well with strong cigars so I smoked some Macs and 5-Vegas Gold that did fine.

Currently a 5-Vegas Archetype (toro) with coffee light. My granddaughter had a blast for Halloween .

Wednesday afternoon November 1st. Matilde Renacer...5.2x54. It may very well be that I smoke too fast, rarely have to relight a cigar, this one burned a bit too uneven, so had to do a touch up, after that no problem.

    Hello David,
Yup the times have certainly changed. Recent Halloweens I've seen parents often outnumbering the kids, hovering over them with the cell phones, etc. Groups of kids when on their own often were of older, bigger kids, high school and oder.
This year, nary a child during the afternoon, the few that did come trick or treating were not around until about Eight Twenty, and the last, really small boy, all on his own, no one else within two blocks distance, showed up at Nine Thirty. and that was it Seven kids in all.
Dang, kids are missing the magic that was Halloween past.
