What did you smoke today (NC) II

I can pick out a flavor here and there (i.e. chocolaty, creamy, nutty, piss soaked newsprint) but I can never come up with those extensive lists of nuances that the reviewers (and for that matter, wine tasters too) come up with.

After years of searching for these nuances, I'm convinced they're just making it up.

I was listening to a podcast some time ago, in which two guys with heavy east coast accents were politely arguing about whether a particular cigar had notes of white pepper or black pepper.

I'm like you guys that aren't able to pick up the many "nuanced" flavors in this great hobby, but I do think it's possible. How's your sense of smell? I believe that's the key. In your example, you do have cooks that can smell those differences. So I believe that a smoker with an impressive snout might be able pick them up.

I've got a pretty good sense of smell/taste, which can be a mixed blessing, but what strikes me as BSey is reviewers that claim to find all kinds of exotic flavors in a cigar made of pure tobacco.

Bob, Have no idea how it works, since there can only be so much to burn in some of the smaller size Cigar, but now an then one fools you and you wind up smoking a lot longer than you expected.

Droy, it is truly wonderful to see that despite Her hectic scjedule Dr. Xue Ming has taken time to provide advice, however I'm not 100 percent certain if it is meant for Smoking Monkey or directed to you. Perhaps some of the meaning has been lost in translation along the way.
Dr. Xue Ming reafirms her admiration for the true and deep symbiosis between the ever Smiling Smoking Monkey and yourself.
