Question to the group. My oldest son just turned 23. When he was a freshman in high school I bought a couple Opus X with the intention of smoking with him for his graduation. For one reason or another we ha ent smoked them yet. This weekend we have a family getaway in the mountains. So do we smoke the roughly 8 year old opus for his first cigar or do I bring something decent he should still enjoy?

That's a tough one. I'd go Opus since it was the plan.

If it's his first cigar ever I think I'd start him on something smooth and mild and hold the Opus for another milestone. Make sure you let us know the outcome !
Black Petite Lancero tonight
No cigar until you get a par - birdie if it's a scramble !

First cigar is a mile stone and an 8 year old opus would be a good start. If you haven't smoked with him yet not sure waiting for a better occasion to burn the opus will arise. Take good bourbon too!

They have a lot of sticks, but only 20ish (maybe a little more) are clone type blends. This was actually the first clone blend that actually resembles its namesake for me. I'm not the biggest Tatuaje expert (as many of you well know), but you could have fooled me with this stick. Very clean wrapper, not tissue thin. Perfect construction (albeit on the loose side), as all have been really. Flavors are very habano like, little earty, little spicy all rounded by a nice sweetness.

Trey, I would take the Opus and a few other cigars and give him the choice. Remind him of the history of the Opus and show him another cigar you think might be more to his liking and let him choose. You might be surprised at which he pics. Just make sure to remind him to smoke slow so he doesn’t end up blowing chow! I haven’t said or heard blowing chow for years. It kinda like calling diarrhea, making gravy. Hahahaha

I'll join you
@WNYTONY
on Warped Wednesday
Is this supposed to have a sourdough/yeast note? I swear since that fake Cuban I'm getting sourdough notes that meld into a metallic taste in everything I smoke except the eastern standard I had recently.

That is so cool!
I would say If he has never smoked anything with nicotine (cigarettes or vape) as well as never smoking a cigar I would say not the Opus because 1) it is a strong stick and 2) if he knows how special it is he may be reluctant to put it down even if he starts feeling sick.
However if he has been exposed to nicotine already and unlikely to feel sick then Go for the opus!
