I used to enjoy very fat cigars but........
This afternoon I had a 4.7X60 Joya de Nicaragua Antono 1970 Grand Consul cigar.:stogie: This cigar has been resting in my 65% rh humidor since 3-8-2016. After lighting, I got a rich leather, and coffee. This cigar was somewhat oily, very heavy (in weight) and dense. The draw was good with one thin vein which presented no problems.:wavey: The flavors were very good and normally I would have been very satisfied except that I had tried this same cigar in a smaller ring gauge and it was excellent. When I smoked this cigar with a smaller ring gauge, the flavors from the wrapper was better and added additional complexity. I realize that the ratio difference between wrapper and filler was less and the flavors were enhanced. I am not ready to fall into the corona size sticks, but I won't go towards the 60 size either. I have learned from this experience that ring gauge can definitely affect the cigar flavor profiles. I topped off this smoke with a large cup of hot coffee and am wiser today than I was yesterday.:santa:
