The wrapper isn't critical - it makes the cigar look good of course, and adds about 10-20% of the flavor, depending on the blend. Structurally, if you omit the wrapper, you do have to do a pretty thorough job with the binder. There's an economic angle as well - good wrapper leaves are way more expensive than the internal leaves, so if you want to save a few bucks... :)
And for the record, just finishing an Alec Bradley White Gold that I started on the way home from the bad idea factory :)
As a connoisseur of cheapies, I can't recommend this one. But as an inveterate cheapskate, I'm still planning on finishing off the ones I bought.

That's pretty interesting stuff Bruce. I was always under the impression it was a larger part of the flavor component and there are those who preach that the wrapper holds the cigar together - specifically that the cap keeps the whole thing from unraveling. I will say that this thing was rolled very well with just that binder leaf - it burned as good as anything else I've ever smoked. Thanks for the info.
Anyways - tonight I decided to fire this Balmoral San Pedro de Macoris that @TreySC sent me a while back. Not a bad smoke Trey - you said this was pretty good for a cheaper stick and I agree.
