Yup, a big reason I don't enjoy the Pro Football as I did in the past. A number of NY Giant players would often come down to get in a half day of fishing on the Party Boats here, after having breakfast in a local diner before going out on the boat. Later they'd spend some in a Bar here. Regular guys. Times when you knew the names of everyone on the team, and those names did not change as quickly as now.

Yeah, I remember those days. That was the way it was for all sports during that time. Athletes have really cashed in on free agency. At least the Cubs have a large market and we will see how deep their pockets are.
Gulp, congrats to Cub fans everywhere. I saw this coming 2 years ago with all of the young talent they had in the wings.

My little brother had an apartment in Valley Ranch TX basically across the street from the Cowboys training facility back in the late eighties, early ninties. Needless to say, a lot of the roster that played for them lived there until their fate was decided. My son and I would jump in the 300ZX and drive down there almost every weekend and we'd play water volleyball from Friday night to Sunday afternoon. We met some very nice people. Those were some fun times! It's wild how fast the years go by. Hell, my son was around minus ten years old, and now he'll be forty in March with four grandchildren he's blessed me with....
