When I was a kid a phone was a luxury, there was about one house on each block had one. Now there a necessity. I dont recieve or make many calls, but I wear that camera out, plus its my timepiece.

Yep, it was "Ma Bell" or nothing. My wife works for a telephone company and it now takes 75 engineers and IP people to get a phone line. Not sure if that's progress....

I traded a cheap lighter for a Patek Philippe knock-off but it turned out that it was genuine. I wore it longer than any other watch that I've owned, 2 months. The strap broke and the watch was gone. The strap was a fake . I don't own a cell phone but when I did I got little value out of my plan. I did want to be a professional photographer, at one point in my life, until I realized that I had no talent. I recently bought a tablet as much for a simple camera as anything but, 10" tablets are hard to keep from shaking, and I'm not as steady as I once was, and the camera quality is wanting so my photos still suck, but like Alan's phone, I got the most reliable watch I've ever owned with the tablet. Somehow, I managed to move to the rear of the technology line and it's OK by me. If they digitize cigars (OMG they did that to cigarettes!), I'm screwed.

2013 Punch Bareknuckle Belicoso with iced water on a chilly night with wind gusts ripping through the trees.

    Hi Pete,
You're not alone in moving to the rear of the technology line.Remember growing up with the black (only colour) phone that sat atop a small table, speaker portion at top of the tree and the receiver, about a five inch long cone...later the, still only in black dial phone with both speaker and receiver combined in one piece. Don't have a landline now, just a cell phone, which I use very little.
Smoking a My father #1 Robusto while the rain is bucketing down, quite windy as well. Dislike smoking indoors, but it's that or nothing.
    Cheers,
    Bob.

2013 Arganese Cafe Dominicana Breakfast Blend with some New Orleans Coffee (present from my daughter) medium light. Dreary, chilly and windy with rain imminent.

Unintentionally, I've been doing a rolling review of these cigars and this stick is as good as the first one that I smoked; sweet orange cream-sickle with a little oomph in the snork that lays well in the mouth long after it's finished.

I judge cigars in much the same way as I do movies. What is the intent? Is it a thriller, western or romance? Is the cigar mild, strong, complex, nuanced? If the product (film or cigar) is a cogent expression of the concept then I understand why it was made.

Lt. Col. Bill Kilgore (Robert Duvall in Apocalypse Now) "loves the smell of napalm in the morning." I'll pass on the napalm and I couldn't smoke these sticks throughout the day but they are what they're intended to be, a light, brightly flavored, early in the day smoke, something to wake your palate and complement a morning coffee. Perhaps, if this cigar were a romantic comedy it might be As Good As It Gets?

Did you really lose a Patek to a broken strap? As a watch lover that is truly one of the saddest things I've heard. I'm sorry for your loss!

I know they're just things, but losing a Patek would make me cry. I'd almost rather lose my humidor, and that's saying something.
