Well I've found I like the CAOs I've tried along with this. Maybe I should become a General whore too!

Yes, a small consolation, but more important for it's lesson.

We all know that cigars vary, to some degree, but these ranged from (about) expected Oliva quality to awful cigars so poorly made that they never could have passed QC unless intended to do so. The contrast between this last, well made Oliva "O", underscores this point.

Every cigar manufacturer will make some bad sticks but how they dispose of them tells you how they value their brand. As branded 'Oliva' (and I doubt the bands were put on anywhere other than the factory) the fault appears to be theirs. No matter what price paid, a reputable company wouldn't allow cigars of this low quality to bear their name or leverage their customers. Even if the samplers were assembled by cBid, Oliva was willing to put their label on trash (and I'd imagine segregate these stinkers before shipment).

Claims of rigorous QC are only marketing tools that have no meaning unless consistently evident in the product and otherwise it's just abusing your customers. As consumers we're the only arbiters of a company's success, so I'll smoke what I have but I'm done with Oliva.

    Good Afternoon Pete,
Late getting to the Bum today, so have just read your post.
Agree absolutely that any cigar maker who puts their name on a poor quality cigar is revealing their disdain for the purchaser.
Never understood the concept of some one, especially once they have been selling cigars for awhile, releasing cigars that are not ready to be smoked when purchased. Perhaps when they are just getting going they might feel they've no choice but to sell some in order have $ to stay afloat. There can be no excuse, once they've a decent inventory, for shipping cigars that may range from poor to putrid.

Hopefully that 2013 Xikar (HC) Maduro Churchill was what a good cigar should be, good.

    Evening Bob,

The HC was fair but I'm very much enjoying a Sancho Panza Double Maduro robusto sent to me by George (@GWBowman). When I think that I'm getting to critical I smoke something good and realize that I'm not.

    Edit:
The Sancho Panza is finishing with a strong dose of baker's chocolate, nice stick indeed.
Partagas 1845 Crystal up next with air cooled water only the air isn't so cool tonight.

    Hi Pete,
Keep seeing the Sancho Panzas mentioned.
Smoked a lot of them in the past, but it's been a few years since I last had one, guess it's time to revisit.

The double maduros are great, especially at their price point!
