Saturday night and Father's day
So I was invited to a neighbor's house for an impromptu shindig. The text message came as I was leaving my neighborhood distillery with a fresh bottle of rice whiskey. My mind was on what I should do next, considering all the housework I accomplished during the day.
So, off I went with my bottle, armed with a few cigars and typical accoutrements of smoking.
A few months ago, their life turned tragic while visiting a timeshare. A freak accident in a golf cart led to the death of their fourteen year old son. As you can imagine, visiting them can be challenging especially when one of them gets a triggered memory and... well you can imagine.
For a good number of hours, though, it was rather upbeat and festive. We were gathering for father's day and I did all I could to keep the conversation alive and avoid topics that could remind them of their son. Or simply listen when he was brought up.
I burned through three double coronas last night and can still taste it in my mouth. My bro, Henry, smoked two of them himself. Took a few returns to my house for more sticks last night.
I've set a personal record of how much tobacco I've cleared in an evening.
Damn near cleared the wiskey bottle too.

That's what cigars are all about. Sounds like your neighbor has a good friend.
