RH Too High
My cigar today, as well as the last one I had, both tunneled. My RH had been as high as 73% from using the Xikar 70% solution a friend had given me long ago.
I have a couple of 65% Boveda packs but figured I'd wait until the Drimistat was dried as I haven't had issues before. I pulled it out about a week ago.
I'll be goin to see family here soon and wanted to take a couple of cigars with me. Would allowing to sit naked in my travel humidor help them even out in several days?

Rhymes with "seed"
You can sometimes combat tunneling by smoking faster. Was that not successful, or did it make the cigar taste harsh?

FWIW, my understanding is that the wrapper, and possibly some of the outer binder RH may come down that way, but the filler takes longer to acclimatize, and should be done more slowly.

If the tunneling is due to the high humidity, dryboxing would help since it should have the greatest effect on the wrapper and binder. So the part that is too wet and causing the tunneling should dry out first. Depending on much wetter the wrapper/binder is than the filler it may take a bit to totally even out. If it's going to be a bit before you go, throw the sticks you want to take in a tupperware with your 65% packs and let them come down that way.
How much of the filler seemed to be tunneling? A lot? a little?

I agree with you, but since it's tunneling wouldn't it be the wrapper and outer binder that need to come down to match the filler since it's what seems to be burning?
Just curious what were you smoking that gave you problems? Some cigars are notorious for burn problems. Case in point Friday night my brother came over I grabbed myself an Anejo and 5 vegas gold maduro for him. Both in my tupperador with 65% bovedas, mine burned like a champ he couldn't keep his lit.
I will also add just get rid of the drimistat and throw the boveda in, I think you will be much happier overall at a lower RH%.
I don't have emotions, and sometimes that makes me very sad.

This was a CAO Gold. None have ever done this to me before.
I knocked off the ash and relight the wrapper and then light the whole thing but it did it to me again soon after. After doin this once again it worked out fine. But then I also smoked a bit faster and would also blow through it a bit too.
It tunneled about 1/3 to 1/2".

Did it look like almost all the filler was burning?

A good portion of it. They are robustos (50 ring) and I'd say it may have left the binder too. Maybe just the filler or most of it.
