Yep, the Bums have nailed it.
Shipping eats into budget sticks at a higher percentage rate, which further counters a bargain buy. (See below)
A few of the last ones I did were because of box size (50 count), rareness (bum sharing a score), Cost, or first time smoke.
That doesn't mean someone still won't do it, especially depending on the price you get.
Also, a lot of splits don't make it into that thread - they happen on the fly or in thread discussions.
Budget example - I grabbed a mazo (25) of San Cristobal Quintessence Robustos.l for about $128 w/tax. That puts me at about $5 a stick. If you want a fiver, I'll send one at no up charge for $35 (puts you at $7 a stick).
@chain_gang
just posted a Caldwell Lost&Found 5'er deal: $20 shipped - hard to beat that!

Golf Course Bum
Just post it up if you decide on trying to do one
@kolabeau
and you'll be able to see if you have interest or not. I see guys do these on other forums all the time and they are done with no problems. Like

said above - it's usually oe of those 4 factors but cost is one of them so a great price is a great price. Sometimes that will still be enough to overcome the shipping.
Another thought is if you buy a 20 count box and split out 10 and only really want 5 is to list the other 5 for a trade. Everyone has sticks they aren't that wild about and would trade to try something else. And remember - trades can be done on value so you could trade 5 $4 sticks for 3 $7 sticks or whatever.
As to the codes - this is what I have listed. Haven't used any one them in a while so no idea what still works
Cigar Federation CIGARBUM10 10%
Famous Smoke CIGARBUM15 15%
Small Batch CIGARBUM 10%
No cigar until you get a par - birdie if it's a scramble !

I buy almost all of my sticks through auctions. I am just looking for a way to compare box split advantage pricing compared to retail price at the local B&M. I assume the MSRP listed on all sites is higher than quality B&M stores actually price their goods but that is 100% an assumption on my part.

You might try Neptune cigar https://www.neptunecigar.com
to check prices. I find the prices there give a good indication of retail.
Something to keep in mind though, the B&M have to add their respective state tobacco / cigar taxes. These can vary widely by state. After the additional tax, the final price might be close to or even above MSRP.
