    Mold in the humidor

Just curious as to how many have actually had issues with mold. If so, please share details.

I had an issue with mold once. Using distilled water with beads. Didn't crack the humidor for probably 4 months or so and when I did, there were 5-8 sticks which were completely covered in mold. All of these sticks were without cellophane. The sticks with cellophane were spared from the outbreak.

One of the humidors at the office had a mold outbreak a few years ago, thousands of dollars of sticks ruined. It was a SUPER BIG BUMMER

Does that mean that now you're a "cello ON" type of guy?

Since then I have been almost 100% cello on. I freeze all sticks before hitting the humidor. I'm anal about rotating and inspecting. I keep the sticks in my basement where it's 67* year round and I set the ambient rh to 50% and in the humidor, my active humidifier is set to 65% rh.

The reason I created this poll what to see how others fair with their collections... If there's an excuse for me to go back to not being paranoid, I would love a cello free humi. I'm expecting a delivery today of 140 sticks or so all without cello. I would love to keep them that way...
