The Karate Squid
I don't keep a running inventory. Too much work.
I have a small enough stash that I know generally what I have, and that's enough for me.
I have my own system for noting dates/box codes on cigar bands when they arrive (micron pigment pen), but besides that I don't worry about it.

I do keep a running inventory. In the past, I never understood stamp collectors and how collecting little pieces of printed paper could turn into a passion. Now I realize I have much the same passion, but only with cigars. BUT - I get to smoke my passion. Philatelists, not so much.
So I guess that's why I enjoy tracking the details about my cigars vs. just owning them...

Jumpin’ Railcars and Collectin' Cans
right now I just have a note on my phone with the info and whether I liked it and want more, liked it but too pricey, or didn't like it. I'm only at around 75, so pretty easy to track this way.

I tried a virtual humidor, but it became so time consuming that I quit. I quite enjoy the "when did I get that" feeling that not keeping inventory provides.

Anyone else have this problem, or is it just me?

I remember, when I used to ride a bike fairly frequently, I installed a little odometer on the bike. After each ride I would total my mileage and time in a spreadsheet. Then sometimes I'd forget to do it and freak out a little. Soon my hobby became more about accounting than riding. Finally I got sick of it and pulled the odometer off the bike and was able to go back to enjoying the experience of the ride itself rather than the record of that ride.
It's not a real hobby unless it interferes with your work.
