    Holiday cigars?

Do you have a specific cigar selected for different holidays? With Memorial Day fast approaching I have been thinking about what to smoke? All of my family (parents and 2 brothers) have all passed away and I find myself thinking of them all often the last few days and want to smoke something special in their remembrance. Still thinking about this one. And also in remembrance of those who gave their lives so we could enjoy the freedoms we have today.

For the 4th of July I am going to smoke a custom rolled that will have been resting 1 year. It should be at least a 2 hour smoke while burning some meat in the smoker.

I haven't given much thought about any other holidays yet.

Do you have any cigar plans for upcoming holidays?

My wonderful daughter gave me a Camacho Liberty coffin back in January for my birthday so I plan on pairing that with Memorial Day.

Once you know the story that goes along with them, no more appropriate memorial day cigar than a Las Calaveras. That's what I will be having in memory of my nana.

    From the Crowned Heads website:

Crowned Heads Las Calaveras was inspired by “La Calavera Catrina,” a zinc etching by Mexican printmaker and illustrator, Jose Guadalupe Posada.

The image depicts a female skeleton dressed only in a hat, and has become an icon of the Mexican Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. The holiday focuses upon gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember those who have died.

Beginning with the Edicion Limitada 2014, Las Calaveras will be an annual release that is a respectful homage to those who have passed away in the year before, and is intended to be a celebration of their lives and remembrances, rather than a mourning or a symbol of sadness and death. Each year, we all lose a friend or loved one, or know of someone who has endured that same loss. In today’s fast-paced world, it is all too easy to forget the fragile nature that is life. Often, in the race to gain material success, we lose sight that our true legacy are the lives we touch and the love we leave behind once we pass on. It is in this spirit that Las Calaveras pays tribute to those who have touched our lives and shared their love.

With each year’s annual limited release, the blend and presentation of Las Calaveras will be altered. What will remain the same, however, is the spirit behind the cigar. We hope that with this annual remembrance, we will choose to celebrate–rather than mourn–the lives of those who have so graciously shared their legacies with us.

I agree with this...although I'm out of last years. Was hoping to have this years in time but that's not happening either lol. Thinking about going with my last Viaje Summerfest instead.

I might have to smoke my last one now, hadn't really put much thought into it before this thread.

My Birthday will probably be a Ferral Flying Pig
4th of July I have a Rocky Patel Freedom
    Thanksgiving, I don't know
    Christmas, 2014 Viaje Holiday blend
I don't have emotions, and sometimes that makes me very sad.

I had hoped the LC2015 would be here by now too, but it looks like it's still a couple weeks away.

All right, you sold me. On Monday I'll have to have one of these as well, on the golf course in memory of my dad who taught me how to hack it around.
