I've had a few Clear Havanas from the '30s. All were flavorful but not terribly complex. Pretty mild. I don't know where they came from before they were given to me.

He said they were from the 1940's and were still good to go...

The Berings, Cuesta Reys, were a notch better than the El Productos, which in turn were better smokes than the Dutch Masters,White Owls etc in the 1950s. More expensive at $8.00 for a box of 25.And Bering had a "short" size that was a lot shorter than today's Nubs., Cant recall the exact price, but doubt it was more than five bucks a box.
