This durned cigar just won't stay lit!
I had the oddest burn issues with a cigar yesterday. It had been stored at 62% RH for awhile, so it wasn't too wet, but it just wouldn't stay lit!
Lately I've slowed down my draws to every 90 seconds or so, so when it went out the first time I relit it and sped up my draws to every minute or so. After it went out a second time I clipped the head (torpedo vitola) again, thinking maybe I needed more draw (although before clipping it again the draw was just fine to me). Again I kept a faster pace of about a minute.
Third time it went out I decided to just call it quits.
Anyone have this problem before?

I have a box of ISOM petite coronas that are SLOWLY getting better, but exhibited the same characteristics that you are experiencing... I believe the box is dated 1/2013 and have just recently started to burn correctly. Stored at about 63% since December of 2013 when I bought them. Its very frustrating when the burn isnt anywhere near correct.

By 'awhile' do you mean weeks or months?
Some ceegars take forever to dry out, especially if they've been stored really wet.
I bought a box once that seemed almost fireproof. 6 months later, they were finally coming around but would still canoe half way thru and go out near the nub. I think I've had them over a year now at ~62-65 and they finally burn right. Really strange because they weren't bumping the Rh in my box way up either.
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

It was gifted to me, but it was in my possession for a month or maybe 5 weeks, and I imagine the BotL had it for awhile before that.

I've had some maduros be absolutely fireproof even after acclimating in my humidor at 65% for months. They must soak the wrapper leaves in liquid asbestos before rolling the cigars.

Ask him, but I would say it's too wet also. Like others, I've had some that take MONTHS to acclimate properly.

Agree...it can take a long time. Had a similar issue as DBragg with some ISOM cigars.

This is DEFINITELY me ↓
I had two cigars in the last month that wouldn't stay lit unless I puffed them every 10 seconds: Long Live the King and Honey and Hand Grenades.
Both were so overrated it didn't bother me much anyway, but nothing pisses me off like picking up a cigar after 30 seconds and no smoke.

I had this issue with an Undercrown I had about a month ago...
Pissed me off as I paid $13 for it, to try and see if I liked the Undercrown line, and it was one of the worst smokes I've ever had.

Which vitola did you try? I had a belicoso the other day that was great, the corona viva size seems to be a favorite for a lot of people, but those shouldn't be so expensive.
I don't have emotions, and sometimes that makes me very sad.
