Saka says its from using oily tobaccos. I imagine he's talking more than just an oily wrapper though. Other than that lighter leaf will burn easier. I don't smoke Davidoff but I know they aren't known for being very strong. So I imagine they don't use much if any ligero. Thinner leaf = more combustible = more smoke. Just my guess. A good roll and proper draw is obviously a given.

The only one I've ever tried was the Nicaragua and is one of my top 3 smokes.
Check out my Youtube channel, Razorback Piper Guy if you like that sort of thing.

Davidoff has extensive quality control measures which factor into the higher pricepoint. For any who haven't had the pleasure of their sticks, here's a good little read.

Wow, Someone Knows Me
I picked up two Davidoff Nica en tubo's from one of the nearest B&Ms mid-March and fired one off in a PIF! I'm going to let mine rest awhile before firing it up but can't wait as it'll be my first as well! I too love thick creamy smoke.

You shouldn't have to let it rest for too long - unlike a lot of manufacturers, you won't ever get a "young" Davidoff, as they let them rest in a humidified room for at least 6 months (if not longer) before they ship them to vendors. Just let it rest long enough to acclimate to your humidor's humidity and then have at it!
They are great sticks, I'm sure you are going to like it!
Stop looking at them and smoke them!!!

I have to agree with everyone, I love the whole Davidoff line!!! Whenever I see it time to have a "special" smoke, davidoff is my go-to. Great construction, great smoke, great taste. They don't get any better. I wish I could afford them on a regular!!!
But, since I can't, my everyday go to cigar is "The Griffins" or "AVO" lines. They are manufactured in the same location, and have just as good quality. I've probably smoked literally hundreds of Griffin robustos, and have never, ever, ever had a bad burn or a defect.

Oh, definitely nothing wrong with it. Almost all my sticks end up aging since I have way too many... Lol I have cigars from 2006 in the humidor.
Since it is his first one, I just thought I'd let him know it is likely good to go in case he was excited to try it.

OK had a davidoff grand cru 3 tonight. I made a special trip for it and I have to say was not impressed. Don't get me wrong great construction awesome thick smoke out put just not my flavor profile! It was "bland" to me. Light with notes of hay was woodie. Just not for me. I would rather spend the money on a liga that's creamy an up my ally.

Kyle, don't give up on them just yet. The Gran Cru Series IMO, is one of the milder lines they have. Too mild for me too, but the Millenium Blend is full, and the Special Series is med/full. I like the Nicaraguan Puros as well. Medium, but a really good smoke.
