Davidoff
I've had a handful or more of them, and they just don't do it for me. They're nowhere near bad smokes - don't get me wrong. We all know their higher-end price tags. But, to me, to value is never there with these sticks.
The Aniversario Short Perfecto is a nice smoke, but for $17, it's simply not a stick I'd pay that amount for (or anywhere near). I would say it's the only Davidoff I've had that I would consider purchasing again, and has probably been the best price-to-quality smoke smoked by them so far.
The Y.O.T Ox had some awesome flavors, but they were pretty subtle. I'll avoid future Y.O.T(x) due to it. Again, just not worth the $40.
Starting to believe this is brand is just like most "luxorious" brands - it's status over value.
Or maybe my taste simply isn't refined enough for Davidoff. Who knows, but if that's the case - I'll stick to my unrefined sticks.
What's your take?

My take is very much the same as yours.
My favorite of the admittedly few I've tried is the Late Hour. I've really enjoyed the ones I've had until last month when the one I got in San Diego that canoed and tunneled - just goes to show that it can happen to any cigar.
I've also enjoyed the Colorado R something or other - but like you said, hard to justify at $30+.
Lastly, I'll give an honorable mention to the Nicaragua - bolder (and cheaper) than most of their stuff.

I certainly won't pay their prices. There are plenty of very good cigars out there in the $6 / $7 range that I don't need to pay $40 for a smoke (and actually, plenty in the $3 to $4 range too). Even if they are 'better', they're not THAT much better; the law of diminishing returns applies. Truth be told no matter the price, about 6 bucks worth is all the enjoyment I get out of a cigar - about the same price as a good pour of decent wine. Don't tell the Nannystate but if every cigar cost $40 I'd never smoke another one. I simply don't enjoy it enough to shell out that kind of coin.
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Yeah, I've heard nothing but good things about the Late Hour. Seen a few Bums praise them. I believe the price isn't as bad on those - $15-20 maybe. Not too extravagant on a fancy-pants-day stick.

I've bought a few just to try and as a special occasion smoke but I too am not paying their prices. I can always get 3-4 cigars I also like for the same price as that one Davidoff. That being said, Late Hour, Escurio, Anniversary, Nicaraugua - they all good
No cigar until you get a par - birdie if it's a scramble !

A cigars a cigar to me $3 or $300, the former leaving more money in my pocket. I have smoked many of the Davidoff offerings and quality and craftsmanship is there but I’ve yet to have one worth writing home about. On the other hand My Father, Illusione, Romacraft and others have wowed me at a fraction of the cost
