Cigar Repair.

I have a few cigars that I have received here of late that have some damage to the wrappers. It looks like the wrapper cracked and is lifting. Is there anything I can use to get the wrapper to stay down? I hate for it to un-ravel or crack some more when I try and light it. I have it at the top of my smoke list due to condition. I vaguely remember a repair thread on the other forum about repairing some issues.

There's a few things you could actually do, all are fairly easy..

The easiest solutions are chapstick - unflavored and unmentholated - just apply a little over the wrapper as you would your lips..wipe away any excess and it should stay down rather easily.

Honey can be used, but takes a little bit to dry and needs to be applied very thinly. It may also slightly affect the flavor if the problem is near the area where you'll be cutting - just because the taste will present itself on your lips/tongue for a short bit.

You can buy fruit/vegetable pectin in stores. Any grocery store should carry some form of it. Mix it with water until fully dissolved. You can make a small dropper bottle full and it should last a good while in case you need it more often. Can either use your finger, or a small flat watercolor type brush to apply it evenly under the wrapper, then press it back into place and give it some time to dry.

I do the pectin thing but I only mix a little bit at the time, keeping the rest of the powder well sealed. I use a Q-Tip to spread it on the damaged area

If I can find the bottles in the shed, I should make a few of these again. Each "kit" had a natural and maduro "band aids" withe the cigar glue. The glue is the same stuff the rollers use (I used to roll and got punds of it with my supplies) and was in new bottles with new brushes.

You should. I would buy one for sure. I have a couple cigars that I have received in purchases here of late that have had minor cracks or damage. If it is on the foot it doesn't bother me, but some of the damage is on the body.

I'll keep the thread updated if I find the bottles. It really depends on finding those.

I'm not sure about the band aids & packaging. The boxes were expensive and it was labor intensive to cut the perfect shapes to fit the boxes. I'm out of the Yellow shade grown I had used for the natural and it is expensive leaf. I do have plenty of neutral binder or 2nd grade wrapper and brazilian maduro. TO "ME" the glue without a band aid is pointless...If I can keep it simple, I think we can bring it back.
