Cigar pairing cheap Gin tonic and a cigar

Anyone here enjoy a cheap, well, gin and tonic with a cigar. That is refreshing as shit. I got turned on to by accident but an undercrown corona viva and that will get the motor running.

Back when I still drank, beer was my mainstay, and bud lite doesn't particularly pair well with cigars, so I'd quit drinking for the duration of the cigar, but vodka tonics were a favorite and I drank a lot of those while smoking. Cleanses the palate well, but doesn't have a lot of taste to alter the flavors of the cigar.

My favorite pairing was an Old Cuban, which I first had at Casa Fuente in Las Vegas and it was SO tasty and paired so well, I scoured the internet for instructions on how to make them.

    They are:
    6*whole*mint leaves

    1*ounce*simple syrup

    3/4*ounce*lime juice, freshly squeezed

    1 1/2*ounces*aged*rum

    2*dashes*Angostura*bitters

    2*ounces*Champagne, chilled

    Garnish:*mint sprig

I've seen recipes that use vodka instead of rum, and tried it both ways, and it made little difference as the other ingredients take the forefront.

Highly recommend trying one. Excellent hot weather drink to go with your cigar. Very cool and refreshing, and if you use halfway decent or better rum/vodka and champagne. The champagne is really the key. Dont penny pinch on it, spring for something halfway decent, or know what cheap ones are good, as they do exist.

I used Freixenet’s Cordon Negro at about $20 a bottle at a liquor store, now you can get it for nearly half that online. Very tasty and not very expensive. I would highly reccomend giving the Old Cuban a try. Unless you dont like Champagne, I think you'll love it.

Be careful though, they go down super easy so it's not hard to be drinking them while sitting in your smoking spot, then they hit you when you get up.

In fact, here's me in my 30's drinking one in my Swarovski crystal, gold rimmed glass and smoking most likely, a Cuban wearing my nice Caravelle by Bulova Diamond silver plated watch.

I used to have class, lol.

    I friggin love cigars

I never would have thought to pair gin with a cigar.
Now I have an excuse to go back to the liquor store and buy the KISS Cold Gin bottle I saw.

Can't say I'm a gin guy, but in the summer I'll have a mojito or two with cigars. Some times I'll even make some aqua fresca, but instead of regular water I'll use carbonated water. My favorite is watermelon-mint. Sometimes a splash of vodka makes in there, so maybe some gin wouldn't be a bad idea.

The wife turned me on the Gin and Tonic. Very refreshing. Never had one with a cigar, though I rarely pair with a nice adult beverage. I do like doing things the Tombstone Approved (TM) way, so I may have to give it a shot.

I'm good with well drinks, but if I'm buying a bottle I like to look for locally-made brands. Usually they are good quality and inexpensive. Had a bottle of this a while back, made by US Navy Veterans here in VA and it was excellent gin.

Lol, that's awesome. I would have used the empty bottle as a display piece back in my post Navy drinking days.

You weren’t paying attention to @jhedrick83 ; and me at the Orgys. We were drinking an occasional G&T with our cigars, although I’m certain Jesse’s weren’t well. Mine may have been.

I like just plain tonic or seltzer water with my cigars. Helps to cleanse refresh the palate. Maybe the lime helps?

I would if I hadn't quit drinking 9 years ago. It just got out of hand, and getting sloshed every night got old.

Plus I accidentally shot myself in the forearm while drunk and it took 3 surgeries to fix the damage, and I still have half of my hand numb and 2 paralyzed fingers to remember it by. Haven't had a drop since that night and really dont miss it al all.
