I have cut off some damage on some sticks before. However, I wouldn't do it it a stick that was in good shape though.

Is this normal? To cut cigars in half? I feel like you'd be missing out on 2/3 of flavors.

    Thoughts?
Sam, if they are too long for him, then there is an easy solution that doesn't make everyone on this site want to climb the walls.

Tell him to smoke for his 20 or 30 minutes, then let the cigar go out naturally in the ashtray.

THEN, use his clippers to cut the cigar, about one inch behind the burn line. Tell him to put the remaining cigar into a separate plastic baggie and back into his humidor.

Next time he smokes, he can pull out the baggie and smoke that one, and then just toss it when he's done.

What he's doing is the equivalent of cutting a can of beer in half, then plastic wrapping both open ends, and then telling shocked onlookers it's because he can't finish a whole can in one sitting.

Way, well a little time back, think...ElProducto,etc ten centers, three for a quarter. Some did this with longer cigars, cut, smoke one half, put the other half in shirt pocket to smoke later.Have seen mentions of "clear havana", tho can only cigars as being labeled Cuban tobacco.

that's worse an still not the best option. im defiantly not one for a relight. i usually wont even relite if im smoking and its been out for around 20 minutes but to each there own. this may be a better option for him but i personally would not do it

Well he already has been gifted the box of cigars, so there's no two ways around it. I have no idea why his friend got him expensive cigars in the first place.

Maybe he should buy bundles of Flor de Oliva. For $2 a stick it doesn't much matter how he wants to mangle them

NGGEEEAAAAHHHH! That's WAY worse! I was somewhat ambivalent about cutting the cigar in half, but the thought pf putting a half-smoked cigar back in a humidor (even in a baggie) makes me want to throw up.

That's like opening a beer can, drinking half, then putting the rest of the can in a bag and them coming back and drinking it several days later.

You'll never get the stale ash taste out of a half-smoked cigar, and besides tar, it's the foulest taste I can think of when it comes to cigar smoking. I'd rather smoke a Ron Mexico than a half-smoked Opus X later.

So maybe the best solution is to let him toss most of the cigar? Cutting it in half could lead to half of it unraveling.

best option is to sell them to someone that will be able to enjoy the car the way it was meant to be and take the money and go buy some good cigarillos or corona sized sticks
