Cedar wrapped cigar question
I'm wondering what everyone does with their cedar wrapped cigars. Do you take the cedar off before storing them or do you leave them wrapped. I've heard somewhere that the cedar wrapping can help encourage mold, although I'm not sure I believe that. I have however over the years had a number of them given to me and randomly when checking them have found a few with mold growing on the cigar under the cedar. Maybe it's just coincidence but it made me start to wonder. I don't usually have many cedar wrapped cigars but was looking at purchasing a number of them and now debating whether or not to pull the cedar prior to storage.

I always take off the sleeve before before I store it. A number of years ago I had some Gran Habano vintage 2002s mold up under the cedar and I always store at 62-65. So, always off with sleeves for me.

Well I store at low to mid sixties and haven't had an issue YET, so I think Jessie is crazy. Well not crazy crazy, but I think we need to watch him a little closer. I've noticed some little 'ticks' that come and go with him, and these ball up and become bigger problems. I'd say something like a snowball rolling downhill or sumptin' like that. Anyhow, I'm going to peel the cedar off my Double Chateau's just in case he's not as crazy as I suspect he is....

I've only had a few that had a cedar sleeve and they got smoked fairly quickly. So I can't answer to the OP.
But I will say that for me the cedar sleeve made a few great spills to light my sticks with.

Ok
Wayne, realise you're just back from a break, feeling a bit frisky, but quit teasing and tell us how" All I do with the sleeves is remove for smoking." those sleeves smoke. Would expect they'd be a Mild airy sort compared to the cigars they were wrapped around.

I've left them on with no problems, but I have heard the same thing. The first sign of a problem and they're gone.
But thanks Tracy for now making me go check......
