    Bitter Cigar

So, a couple days ago I smoked a Don Carlos 80th Anniversario Personal Reserve, and it was extremely bitter the entire time.

It was in the same tupperdor, at the same rh as others I got at the same time, I have smoked several and they were great, and with no bitterness.

Anyone have a clue what was going on with this one?

Do you feel like you were smoking it at the same pace as the other ones? Sometimes, when I get something a little bitter it’s because I’m smoking it too fast.

    Pretty sure I did.

If anything, I smoked it slower as I typically do with smaller Cigars

Was there tar build up or a smell of ammonia while smoking? Could just be the cigar going through a "sick period" where it ferments and give off am ammonia smell and a bitter taste. If you have a few let the rest sit a few weeks before trying it again. It happens.

No ammonia taste or odor and no tar buildup that I noticed.

Yeah, was planning to sit on the rest a while, although I have already had them for 2 months, but really don't want to waste such a good stick, and they aren't exactly cheap either.

    Just kinda odd.

Dont recall ever having something like this happen before in 15 years of smoking, regardless of whether they were in my humidor a couple years or literally rott after just breaking the seal on the box...

Sounds just like luck of the bad draw then. Being a hand rolled and natural product you will have duds from time to time. Its unfortunate it happens to a cigar with such potential and not the Swisher sweets of the world.
