    Band Removal

I usually leave the bands on until the burn is approaching the label. Usually, they come right off when I get a fingernail under the edge.

Inevitably though, I have a few cigars that I end up screwing up the wrapper trying to undress the cigar. It doesn’t help that I’m trying to do this in the dark by feel alone.

One notable line that I frequently have this issue with is RoMa Craft. Something about that skinny band, with two layers and I think they must use a high quality glue or too much of it.

What cigars give you problems in apparel removal?

I wouldn't say one particular brand, but it does happen.
I usually roll the cigar at the band and try to get that "edge" when the seam gives a little and it seems to come up easier.

I have this issue with all cc, but there's also some nc that still use glue. It's something that makes little sense as glued bands cost more than self-adhesive bands, but I've noticed that it's the boutique brands that usually use the glue. Probably because the good bands probably need to be order in larger quantities than they're able to make cigars for. Off the top of my head, Vijaje and Caldwell come to mind.

Those and the RC usually the second white paper ones underneath. The CC's on the other hand are always a PITA!

I am pretty sure Fuente just super glue the band to the wrapper.

I do the same as Mark and let the burn warm up and soften the glue a little before trying to remove the band. Fuente sometimes causes trouble, but is also the brand I smoke the most.

Yeah....there are some cigar bands that are a PIA....so I use a draw tool with a single rod that I slip under the band...and gently break the seal and then tear the phuckr off the rest of the way with an evil laugh.

I can't think of a particular one that causes trouble, as I seem to smoke lots of different things. But I do hate it when I mess up the wrapper.

Just because of this, if it's going to be dark, I generally try to think about removing the band first.

That's when it is the stickiest...wait til the burn line is almost an inch...it will melt the adhesive and the band comes off easier ...usually.
