Happiness? A good cigar, a good meal, a good cigar and a good woman - or a bad woman; it depends on how much happiness you can handle- George Burns
I usually smoke on my back deck near a fireplace. I chuck them in the fireplace and they all get consumed in the next fire. During the summer (when it's so damn hot I don't have fires) I just dump the ashtray into the ash can I have for cleaning out the fireplace. That eventually gets dumped in a trash bag and simply thrown away.

I thought English was horrible to learn, until I tried Russian.
Actually, my question isn't what you do with your nubs and ash, but how you keep the ash out of your lap?
I like to build ash, but can never predict when it will fall so awkwardly hold my cigar over an ashtray once it reaches an inch.
It seems 1 in 3 cigars will drop ash in my lap. Drives me mad.
Also, Frank Zappa is one wacky band. Don't hear of too many fans so I'm excited to see that name here.

I smoke at a desk usually, and rest the cigar in one of the slots of my ashtray between puffs.
What I do is set it down a touch less than gently, and you can see if the ash wiggles or not (or sometimes just falls off).
I rarely ash on myself since I started doing it this way.
