Ashes go on the ground. Step on them and they vanish.
Buts usually go in the wood burner. I've also given them a proper burial by kicking a small divot in the ground with my heel, dropping one in and covering it with dirt. Usually it's pretty easy to find a small area devoid of grass for the purpose.

Back to the topic at hand...My ashes usually just go on the ground to be blown around by the wind and my butts go either in the coals in my grill, or in the campfire, depending on where I'm smoking.

The apostrophes for plurals is a pet peeve of mine. Not sure why it annoys me, but it does. A lot of people do it, but I've never figured out why.
