Airline travel with cigars and accessories

I have searched online and have read a hand full of websites on this topic, however I am asking for some real-world experience with traveling with cigars in your carry-on bags.

What can you fly with, what needs to stay at home, this includes cigars, cigar case, lighters, cutters, matches, etc.

I fly to from Raleigh, NC to Anaheim, CA in the morning with a layover in Chicago.

Could also add a good place to smoke or buy some cigars in Anaheim.

    Thank you.

I travel all the time with my cigars. My routine is put my cigars in a travel humidor and my cutter and lighter in my checked baggage.
Lets face it, you can always get matches at a 7-11 and a cutter can be anything. I have never had an issue with anything checked in
my baggage. Why take the chance.
Couple of things I've learned. I like good Bourbon and hate wet toilet paper.

You can have tobacco in your carry-on, NP. Lighters and cutters OK in the checked bag if you have one. Otherwise, purchase what you need when you get there

Side issue - you can't put vape mods in your checked bag; these must be in your carry-on or pockets.
You oughta know not to stand by the window, somebody see you up there.

I've had no problems carrying cigars either in checked or carry on bags. I have packed them in a Rubbermaid type plastic container, a portable Herf-a-dor, and even packed into an empty plastic water bottle, or in a ziplock bag shoved into a shoe for protection.

You may carry a butane soft lighter or zippo type lighter in your carry-on or on your person; but not in checked bags.
Torch lighters are technically banned in both carry-on and checked unless in a DOT approved container, or are completely empty; then you may still risk losing it or being delayed in security as they check. https://www.faa.gov/about/office_org...ghters_faq.pdf
I have had to forfeit a torch lighter in a security line. Fortunately it was just a cheapie Ronson jet-line and they x-rayed my bag 4 times before they pulled me aside to ask me about it.

I have carried a two finger cigar cutter in my carry-on several times, but I would not risk it with a nice one. I have only brought a cheap plastic one in case they decide to confiscate. A cutter otherwise should be no problem in checked baggage.

Yep - I've stowed travel humi's in checked luggage and my golf bag, as well as carry on. I've done lighters and cutters in the golf bag or checked luggage but like others said - only cheap one I don't mind losing if they get snagged.
No cigar until you get a par - birdie if it's a scramble !

Thank everyone for the insight. I ended up cutting all my cigars before putting them into my herf a dor and will get a lighter or matches at my destination.

All good through the security check in my carry on.
