If one has the money then it doesn't matter what the cost. I could probably afford a couple but my principles won't allow me to do that for a brand that I barely smoke anyway. There are a lot of great cigars out there that are half of that....one that I can't wait to smoke is the Nomad Signature and even at the price tag it sells for kind of makes my sphincter tighten but if it is really really good I guess I can sneak into the 401K and buy a box.

I probably wouldn't spend the money on a Tat of that price, but I have done it before on other lines. But I justify it by keeping them in my "special occasion" humidor and only pulling them out for celebrations. But inevitably, I end up thinking it wasn't worth it.

Totally agree. Every time I smoke a Unico, I think, wow! This is a great cigar. So many flavors. But guess what? I do the same thing when I smoke an Undercrown for half the price.

The law of diminishing returns comes into play with cigars. The difference between a $2 cigar and a $12 can* be huge, with far more complexity and flavor. But the difference between a $12 cigar and a $20+ cigar? IMO, not a damn thing other than marketing and scarcity.

*I say CAN BE because sometimes a $2-3 cigar (such as a RB Project) kicks ass compared to some BS Dominican Cohiba or some other gimmicky $10 stick.

No cigar is worth more than $8 based on materials and work involved (with very few exceptions), the rest is all marketing and consumer added value. Having said that, if the consumer enjoys a cigar that he/she added $10 of value to just because it's rare, or it's old, or it's made by this guy/girl I like, then they also added to their enjoyment of that particular cigar. I for once don't like to buy expensive cigars because I get in the mindset of only lighting it when conditions are perfect. This is a problem because whenever you think those perfect conditions arise (and you light those expensive sticks up) that's when all seems to go down the drain quick.

That's higher than giraffe pu$$y to me, but with hunting, fishing, farming and such I don't have the disposable cash to buy cigars like that.....

As an inveterate bottom-feeder, I don't really belong on this thread... But yes, although Tats are the cat's pajamas, I wouldn't pay that much. I have been known to splurge on Paul Garmarians at $17-18 apiece on occasion.
You oughta know not to stand by the window, somebody see you up there.
