50th Birthday Cigar and/or Scotch Recommendations?
I'm officially going to be an old bastard. On July 30, I'll be 50-years old. And I'm not going to do the usual Dewer's and Diesel (not that there's anything wrong with that).
Thinking of picking up a good bottle of single-malt and a super-premium stick to celebrate. Wondering if you guys could provide any recommendations. Maybe I'll try something that I haven't before.
So you kind of know my taste, my "go to" single-malts are Ardbeg 10, Laphroig 10, and Highland Park 12. In terms of cigars, I like everything and I haven't tried much of the ultra-premium stuff. Had an LP9 and it was good but I thought, overrated. I'm thinking full-bodied with some kick for the B-day smoke.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Premium of Ultra Premium smoke, I recommend GOF Carlito, Diamond Crown Julius Ceaser or Padron 50th.
Premium scotch, Johnny Walker Blue, Johnny Walker Platinum or Lagvulain (sp?).

Ditto the Johnnie Walker Blue. A high price for sure but I've never had anything like it!
For a cigar I'd consider an Ave Maria Reconquista. It's not uber expensive and is a great smoke. A spicy and sweet cigar that is phenomenal.
Another solid choice is Padron 1926 natural. Would go great with a scotch.

Can't help with the scotch, but I like
@Brimy
recommendation of a God of Fire Carlito. I have only smoked one, but was truly a memorable cigar.
Happy Birthday and 50 isn't old sonny.

Just had some Macallan 12 the other day, it had been a while but I forgot how good it is! Blended scotch can be really good, but for a special occasion don't cheat yourself out of a good high-end single malt

If you like your scotch to have some body to it, I would skip the JW Blue.
Macallan 18 and Highland Park 18 are always delicious in my book. No matter the price, Lagavulin 16 is my personal favorite.
As for the cigar, I'll let others chime in as I have not indulged in too many ultra premium cigars.

My b-day is coming up as well. I'll be 35 this week.
My choice is a Liga Privada T52. I've never had one, so I don't know if it's a good choice or not.
If you're picking up something I'd suggest a Davidoff Nicaragua. One of my favorites so far.
Check out my Youtube channel, Razorback Piper Guy if you like that sort of thing.

You can't go wrong with Padron. Pick one and sit back with a nice glass of scotch. I'd second Highland Park 18. Another recommendation would be Lagavulin 12 or Ardbeg Uigeadail.

If you like highland scotch my recommendation would be McCallan. I've had the 10 year fine oak all the way to the 21 year and have not been disappointed. There is something about a scotch that is old enough to order its own scotch....
And for a premium cigar I don't think you can go wrong with an Añejo or high end Padron.
BTW, it's my birthday at the end of the week also. Happy birthday!!

New to cigars so can't offer too much help there but I can attest that Lagavulin 16 year is amazing IMO, have a bottle of it at the house now. It offers a ton of flavor and a generous helping of smoky peat.
