High-end Padron for me because they don't have to be aged. Lagavulin 16 or Glenmorangie Nector D'or have both come highly recommended for pairing. I'd go for the Laga 16 though with a Padron...

If you like the peaty Lafroig 10, a nice paring with that is the AJ Fernandez Spectre which has some latakia tobacco in it for a nice Smokey flavor.
For the 50th though, I go with a Diamond Crown Maximus #10 and a nice scotch like the JW Blue or the Gold if you can find it. Another great smoke is the Ashton ESG...

A Padron 50th Anniv Maduro with a dram of Auchentoshan 12 Year Old is what I had on my 50th.

A Padron Family Reserve 50, or even better the Padron 50 Anniversary Natural (if you can find one) would be rather fitting. You won't be disappointed. I can guarantee you that.

Since you're a fan of Highland Park 12 year, I see no reason not to splurge for the 18yr. It's absolutely magnificent scotch!
As far as smokes go, I think most of us have got those few sticks they'd like to try, but just haven't. I'd pick up anything you've had your eyeball on, but haven't pulled the trigger on yet.
Happy early birthday!

Dalmore Cigar Malt and a Fuente Anejo. I haven't actually had that Dalmore but love the ones I have tried, and the description sounds amazing. I like peaty whiskies too, but I find they tend to overpower the subtleties of good cigars.
Before dinner I'd have a Davidoff and a Glenmorangie.

Thanks for all of the great suggestions, guys! I've tried a few of the suggested Scotches but never the Highland Park 18. So I'm leaning towards that one since I'm already a big fan of the 12.
I don't think I've tried a single one of the cigars you guys have suggested and I'd like to try all of them. I was already considering a high-end Padron, since I've always been tempted by those. So, 1926 or 1964 if I go that route? Davidoff are tempting too.

Happy Birthday Shaun!
I wouldn't be much hep on the scotch and stogie as my tastes tend to run a bit pedestrian. My 50th was a couple years ago and we celebrated with big porterhouse steaks. Can't remember what I smoked though
You oughta know not to stand by the window, somebody see you up there.
