The Xikar V cutter is a favorite of mine, I use it 95% of the time. The other cool thing is the concave side is a perfect cigar rest. Nice review, Chris!

You know I totally forgot to mention the rest on this and the X8 cutter. Great feature which I use often! Updated initial post to include mention of it.

I'm assuming this is a self sharpening design?
Do you think the "grating" feel you get from it could be from that design?
I can't imagine that the V blade is going to slide across the sharpener as smoothly as a straight blade can.

same here. the only time I don't use it is with a torpedo...and I have to say even then I consider it. I have been using mine for close to a year and its still very sharp. Thanks for the review!

I obtained an XV a few months back. This is my first V cutter of any type. I did not anticipate that it would become my primary cutting tool.
I definitely prefer the V over a straight cut on the larger RG cigars. And yes, you can use it on torpedos too.
I was not aware of the free case from Xikar. I will have to check it out.

Chris can you send me a link to the free case? I looked on Xikars site but I can't seem to locate it.
Thanks man.

I'll just post the link here for everyone: https://www.xikar.com/warranty/login.asp
Basically you get the case when you register the product for a warranty.

No problem

I'm pretty sure both of mine showed up quicker than that. Be careful not to toss the envelope, it shows up in a normal white envelope. The sheath is pretty thin especially when new it could be easily missed with your junk mail. They have fancier sheaths you can buy, but for free, these can't be beat and protect everything especially when carrying in your pocket with your keys.
