The Xikar X8 was the first cutter I purchased and it has been my go to since day one! This cutter is razor sharp (as all cutters should be), it is light, smooth and essentially effortless.



Comparing this to a typical cheap cutter sitting around a lot of cigar shops just isn't a fair comparison. The X8 on a cigar is like a hot knife through butter. The blades on mine have stayed sharp over a year, and I've never had an issue with snags or crushing a cap with this cutter. One nice feature of this cutter is that one side is concave which allows the cutter to act as a cigar rest, keeping the cigar from rolling away and up off the table.



Xikar will give you a free "leather" case which I highly recommend getting by filling out a form on their website.

Xikar recently came out with a metal version of this cutter, the M8, which to me is very appealing. I think it would add some heft and refinement to make this cutter aesthetically seem more high end; and the added heft to me would be welcome.

All in all if you are looking for a relatively cheap but very high quality guillotine cutter then look no further than the X8 (or M8), you will not be disappointed.
