    Turning on a wineador question

So as many of you know I finally have my wineador all set up and holding rock solid. right now i have been fortunate because the weather has been unusually cool for this time of year but the HOT season is just around the corner.

Is there anything I should look for when I finally plug it in. I already know that I will start off with it set at the Highest setting of 66 deg F. but should i start it now before it gets too hot to avoid condensation? or do you think i am fine just waiting till it hits like 80 in my house?

I wouldn't wait til it hits 80...more like if it consistently starts getting above 70. Make sure to verify that yours starts out at the highest setting by default, cause mine and others I have read on here seem to start at the lowest setting by default. Somewhere in the mid 50's if I remember correctly.

Defaults to lowest temp - not highest. Think it is 55 on mine.
Plug it in, watch for condensation in the bottom and you should be good to go.
No cigar until you get a par - birdie if it's a scramble !

I just dealt with this with my wineador. Everything was fine when it was off and the temp in the house was 66 - 68. Temps were about 2 -3 degrees different from the top to the bottom. rH was mid 60s like I like it.

Then it started to get into the 70s in the house, so I turned on. OK, for a while until I turned off the air conditioner in the house and let it get to about 80 with the windows open. The temp in the wineador started to fluctuate. It was 70 on top and 61 at the bottom. I have an extra set of dual computer fans inside so I wasn't sure what was going on. So, I cranked the temp down in the wineador to try to get rid of that nasty "7". Wrong move. As the temp in the wineador started to deviate more from the temp in the house the rH dropped like a rock. It was in the 40s.

I finally brought the temp back up in the wineador to 65 and the temp in the house to low 70s and the rH went back to the 60s.

This is my first summer with it, so I am going to have to futz with it to get it to behave I guess.

Yeah I probably should have said that I knew that it would reset to the lowest setting. I also really do not expect it to be that much cooler since my house gets HOT during the summer months. but it will still be better than nothing.

The issue is that the refrigeration sucks moisture out of the air.

Perhaps you could insulate it? Wine coolers should already have good insulation, but maybe not as good as they should.
