    What's Your Latest Accessory Purchase?

    Taking up some tips from others prior @GWBowman ; @Ljutic ;
    I was already somewhat familiar with Govee as I had looked at them for a different monitoring scenario a few years back.

    I got this set of wireless thermometers/ hygrometers from Govee. They connect via Bluetooth with my devices and also come with a WiFi gateway so I can monitor while away from home, or at least be alerted.

    As you can see, the sensors do not have their own displays but are small enough to tuck away within your cigars. They take up very little space.

    The set came with 3 sensors and the Wi-Fi gateway. The gateway isn’t much bigger than a USB charging cube and plugs into any outlet. I think the set was on sale for about $50. You can have up to 10 sensors on the gateway. I think more if only using Bluetooth.

    I checked the RH using the notorious salt test (IT WORKS!) They were all fairly consistent and within about 1% RH of the predicted value. The temps all read within 0.2-0.4° of each other. I waited until there were no further changes in RH and temp for 3 consecutive hours before reading and adjusting the calibration.

    I know, this is overkill. It’s more of a fun curiosity than a need as I don’t believe we should be fussing over storage as much as some do.
    I didn’t have anything monitoring my two totes, but relied upon trust that my humidification system works. What I didn’t have was a means to check when I needed to recharge the crystals with more water. Wasn’t too worried, as this is very infrequent in the sealed totes. Also I had Boveda in there and could tell when they were drying up that a recharge was needed.

    The dashboard:

    They also have hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly graphs and charts showing average, min, max, etc.

    As a side note, While I was at it, I picked up some moisture sensors to put on the floor in my utility room and near the sump pump. These will alert me both with phone and email notifications as well as emitting an audible alert. If you are following my smoking room / office conversion, the reason I’m redoing the floor is from a water incident involving the humidifier last year. Just a few weeks ago, we had another near miss as the air conditioning condensation outlet was plugged and backed up with condensed water flooding the floor. Between the humidifier, A/C condensation, water heater, water softener, floor drain; there are just too many sources for water damage. And it’s in an area rarely frequented, so any water could go undetected for a considerable amount of time.
    So, in a way, these will also protect my smoking room.What's Your Latest Accessory Purchase?, thus a smoking accessory.

    I’m looking forward to see how these perform over time.
