All Weather Smoking Habitat
My latest project, although not directly a cigar smoking accessory, my cigar smoking certainly inspired it!
Installed an under-deck roof above my patio. My lower patio below my deck is where I do most of my winter-time smoking. I sit back in the corner, sheltered from most winds. The deck is above me and helps to trap a little of the heat emitted from my patio heater. Emphasis on little, as quite a bit of heat escapes through the gaps of the deck boards.
The roof will now provide a dry area under the deck. It will provide shelter from any rain or melting snow. With my patio heater, that became a significant problem. The escaping heat would melt snow above that then come dripping right back down on me and the heater.
The new roof/ceiling will also reflect the heat back down to me much better!
Before
After
I made sure to put in proper slope so water drains away. I may install gutters later.

Looks good. Nice work.
Carpentry was never my specialty for sure.
I'll stick to fixing electronics if I ever am able to return to work.
Here we have a small, all glass, smoke hut very much like you would find at a bus stop, which is right near my room and blocks wind and precipitation well, plus has a comfy bench swing i enjoy swinging on gently while I smoke.
It adds to the soothing, relaxation that I get from smoking cigars.
Unfortunately, its completely unheated, so it can be a little chilly, but with enough layers of proper clothing, i can stay comfortable down to 10 degrees, so not too cold very often. Also has a gorgeous view of the nearby mountains which is nice.
Having a space heater in it would be great, but definitely never going to happen.
Your area looks very nice and protected from the worst of the elements, plus has some heat, so a job well done. I dont think I would have to smoke only PC's and similar size smokes in that environment. I would think larger, hour long smokes wouldn't be a problem like it is here sometimes, which is why I stocked up on boxes of smaller smokes.
Been unusually warm so far this winter, like i have never seen in my 13 years or so in Wyoming, so haven't had to break out too many of them yet and have been able to continue smoking hour long smokes the vast majority of the days so far still.
It can stay like this until spring in April as far as I'm concerned. I'm definitely over cold weather and snow, but can't seem to escape the northern states for more than 6 to 9 months in the navy in Florida then San Diego, other than that have spent all of my life in northern states.
Still hope to escape to somewhere warm year round someday and without crazy humidity like Florida, or crazy heat like Arizona, new Mexico, and similar.
Mid to southern Nevada seems like it would be pretty ideal.
Unfortunately have to be a resident of Nevada to get into their veterans home and that requires a year living there in something rented, which I can't really afford, and being on my own for a year is kinda risky, as it hasn't gone well in the past.

Wonder is some more corrugated on the walls might reflect more heat in the winter

Nice job! I would have used something other than galvanized decking just because it's selling at stupid prices right now (at least in my area). Are you planning side panels?
Also, did you put any screening to keep wasps and other unwanted visitors?

I wasn’t planning on using side panels, but that is a thought.
Even if I just tacked them in temporary, maybe grooves at the top and bottom to slide them in. ?
The panels were about $30 each for 2x12.
I looked at other, more attractive metal siding/roofing, but they were significantly more expensive or I would have had to wait; they weren’t in stock at nearby stores.
The patio area I am covering is 12x14.
I may think about closing it in to make it a true all-seasons room (with adequate ventilation for the heater, of course.) I would prefer clear material as I like looking outside. I have considered marine grade vinyl and canvas panels that can be rolled up when not in use. These are pretty pricy if custom made. $$$

I like the idea of slotting metal for the walls. I you needed to close in the front but still give a bit of ventilation and able to see out of those mosquitoe nets that cover garage doors and magnet in the middle. Just a thought

Looks good Mark. I have always thought a pop up ground blind with a heater and a chair inside would work well, especially if it's covered and out of the wind. Plenty of Windows on all sides for selected ventilation.

Thanks for sharing. That'd pretty sweet if you could eventually get it enclosed.

Enabling goes beyond the sticks, and we're always here to give some encouragement.

Right on! You all are dangerous.
Experiencing a little project creep. Been contemplating this for over a year. As it progresses, then thinking about closing it in, maybe a ceiling fan for those warm summer months or to help distribute heat in winter. Then comes furnishings. Inexpensive mesh deck chairs won’t do.
All this for the purpose of what? Enhancing my comfort while smoking cigars. We could enjoy it for other times outdoors, but that almost always goes along with a cigar.
