I used to be all guillotine cutter, but I find that too fancy and pretentious now. I recently switch over to the box cutter. Great for all shapes of cigars!

I should clarify, I do use it on many box press cigars, but some have an odd shape cap that doesn't seem like it will work as well as a straight cut.

Perfect! Thank you for all the responses. I was leaning towards grabbing a v-cutter before this post, but wanted to talk to the experts before I did.

I usually V an box pressed cigar. Otherwise its a guillotine, unless I'm smoking while mowing. Then I punch it, just because my punch is in the room with the mower so it's convenient. If you are going to get a V cutter, the Xikar XV is the way to go IMO as well. I love it. Super sharp and doubles as a cigar rest if needed.

I'm with these guys - the other cutters just sit in my "Cigar Paraphernalia Display Box" while my Xikar V-Cutter remains with my "I use this stuff when I smoke cigars" bag. It is my one and only go-to.

Do it - you won't be disappointed. You might end up ditched your others.

    No question - go for a V!

I've posted a fantastic accessory review of it in the past - perhaps I'll post up here as well!

We're talking the Xikar V-cutter, not a "V-cut", right? The two confuse me sometimes.

Why do you like the wedge-shaped V-cutter over a regular guillotine? Both use two blades that meet to slice off part of the cap. Is it the ergonomics?

I'm pretty sure we are all talking about a v-cut, which is performed by the Xikar V-cutter. I think you may be referring the the Xikar X1, X2 or X3 cutters which provide a straight cut.

And it's the feel of still having part of the cap in place while having more draw than a punch. At least it is for me.
