Yeah, I have a problem.

While yes, they probably have v cutters in the cigar box of cutters, fair warning. I used the one at my shop when I forgot mine and it straight mangled my stick. Just a heads up. Again may not be the case where you go.

I used a standard guillotine cutter for a long time then I was gifted the xikar scissors which I liked and used a lot. Now after picking up a Cuban Crafters perfect cutter a few months back I have not used anything else. I really like this cutter. I do want to give the v cutter a try one of these days though.

The Perfect Cutter works great but I still prefer my V-cutter and if it still needs to be opened more another swipe with the v-cutter to make an X works great.

    Whatever is closest

Though I will say I'm starting to understand the beauty of the v-cutter. It's fast. No lining anything up, no cracking the cap. I can do two v-cuts in an X pattern faster then I can punch or guillotine.
It's not a real hobby unless it interferes with your work.

Recently it's been the v-cut more often than not. The main exceptions are when I have some sort of torpedo style cap or a box pressed cap that I don't think will lend itself to the v-cut very well. Then it's a guillotine.

I haven't had any big ring gauge cigars yet, but I have a punch cutter on one of my lighters that I've used from time to time that I'd probably use on a large RG cigar.

Just for fun, try the v-cut on a torpedo some time. I was very pleasantly surprised by the result. When I first tried it my reasoning was that if it didn't work well I could always just use the guillotine to fix it. Instead it was awesome. I know that everyone will have their own preference and that is as it should be. For me, though, I haven't found anything a v-cut hasn't worked very well on.

I think a V-Cut on a box pressed cigar is perfect. I usually line it up to go across the longer side, then if I need to open the draw some more, I make an X by going across the short side.
