Taking Torch Lighter on Airlines: Colibri Tranzpack

If you are traveling domestically, and want to bring a torch lighter, do this:

1. Buy a Colibri Tranzpack. http://www.amazon.com/Colibri-Tranzp.../dp/B000J0KUB0. Better price: http://www.elighters.com/cotr.html but out of stock at moment.

2. Print off this FAA bulletin and circle in magic marker or highlighter the picture of the Tranzpack on the second page.

3. Put your lighter in the Tranzpack, roll the FAA bulletin over it with the picture facing out, and put the whole thing in a gallon Ziplock. The idea is that any TSA agent seeing the Tranzpack also sees the FAA bulletin making it clear it is legal.

4. Put in your checked baggage. Will not be allowed in carryon.

I wouldn't put your Dupont Maxijet in there in case the TSA agent can't read or doesn't care. But I do take my Bugatti B-1001 which I purchased on CBid for ~$15 in it. [I haven't yet gotten the slip in my luggage indicating that TSA opened my bag, but will post when that happens.]
