    Sistema Tupperdor

Anyone ever have a Sistema brand tupperdor somehow fail and not hold rh, or have any ideas what could cause this?

The seal looks fine, lid is seated properly and clips work with normal effort (unlike being very had to close if the lid is seated improperly).

I have only 4 cigars in the smaller size tupperdor, and with 2, 60gr, 65% Bovedas it reads 55% with a just verified Boveda Butler, and with a 320gr 65% Boveda it reads 57%.

Even if it had a small leak, a 320gr Boveda in a container it barely fits in, should read higher than that with only 3 cigars.

Have even gone so far as swapping out the Sistema and Boveda, and it still only reads 57%.

    I'm at a complete loss...

    Any ideas?

A lot of guys use those, in fact they usually buy the cedar lined trays as they fit in there perfectly - 2 stacked. Sounds like you need more cigars in there to hold the humidity up where it belongs
No cigar until you get a par - birdie if it's a scramble !

I agree with Tony you need more cigars or something in there to take up space. But as a test throw the Butler and a boveda pack in a zip lock bag with as much air pushed out as possible for a day or so and see what it reads.
I don't have emotions, and sometimes that makes me very sad.

I do have some cedar blocks and unused dividers I could throw in, and move some more cigars in too.

The only reason there's only 3 cigars in their is that its 2 EL Montecristos I was givin that are slated for a special occasion, likely 1 for my upcoming birthday the 19th, another for my 50th birthday, and a BHK56 that I've been saving for 3 years to smoke on what would have been my son's 18th birthday this May 25th if he were alive..

    Thanks guys

I did just test the Butler a couple days ago with a 320gr, 65% Boveda in a bag it barely fit , with the butler next to it and almost every bit of air sucked out for 24hrs, and by 12hrs it was already reading 65% and stayed there the next 12 hrs.

Question, should the cedar go in dry or slightly dampened/seasoned?

Or should I just skip it if I get the total to 11 cigars? It's the smaller, half sized tupperdor, not their biggest one.

I would think to season the cedar or they are going to dry out the boveda & cigars.

Another option for only a few cigars put cigars and a boveda in a ziplock bag then that in the tupperdor. The zip lock isn't perfect but then the boveda doesn't have to work at humidifing the whole tupperdor.

Hadn't thought of that. Good idea.

I took all my dozen cigars in my 2 large Sistemas and put them into small ones, so there's about half the space to humidify, plus some lightly moistened cedar blocks in both and each has a 320gr 65% Boveda and a 60gr 65% one as well, so hopefully that works.
