    My NewAir setup (pic heavy)

I posted a pic of some Spanish Cedar I ordered and was asked what it was for. So I promised I'd post a few pics of my wineador setup for anyone interested.

I now have a total of 3 NewAir 281's. My first is full of drawers and trays, my second is full of boxes. #3 (an Xmas gift from my wonderful wife) will also be getting drawers and trays. Those are on order so I am going to use some pics of my first wino for those parts.

First off - fans. I use a two fan setup, placed along the back wall. They are fans designed for cabinet cooling of stereo components - you place them on top of the unit and they suck air in on the large side and blow it out the channel on the top.
Here's the kit, which comes with 2 fans and a variable speed controller / power unit for $30 (link below). The 2 extension cables are extra ($2 each) and used to get power from outside to inside the unit.

    Better view of the fan

Extension wires are cut and fed thru the drain hole in the bottom center of the unit and spliced back together.

Fans are plugged in to a normal timer set to come on for 30 minutes every couple of hours and I run the fans fairly low speed. Here they are in the unit

They are set with the open side out so it will suck air from under the bottom drawer and blow it straight up the back of the unit. You can see the two 1"x1" blocks I put in the upper corners. These keep the backs of the drawers out 1" from the rear and create channel for the airflow. Air goes up the rear and across the top to the front. The fans are pulling from the rear of the bottom and the block out of 1" leaves a nice gap under the face of the bottom drawer so in theory it pulls the air down the front and keeps it circulating up the rear and down the front.

I use Heartfelt beads in a short wide cigar box bottom and place then under the bottom drawer, along with 4 Boveda packs in a 4 cedar holder. So as air is drawn by the fans it is passing by/over the beads and Bovedas and circulating humidity. (I also stash some bead tubes/discs in the drawers to spread them throughout the wino)

There's some of the Spanish Cedar. Two 6" planks cover from the bottom to the cooling unit and then some 2" to go around the cooling and across the top. (You can do the floor and ceiling as well, but you lose valuable space so I've chosen not to)

Here's the front look with the drawers and trays

Now when I say tray - it is a homemade tray. I used some 1" Spanish cedar to convert a shelf into a single height tray. Here's a pic of that

I like having those 2 trays at the top for random singles, bomb hits, etc.. I cut the SC and glued it on to make sides and used a piece for a divider and it worked out great. The lower one is only 1 high, but the upper one can go 2 high without blocking airflow. So when I get my new drawers and shelves for #3 I will use 2" SC for the top tray and also make one for this first wino and swap out the 1" tray to become the lower tray in #3.

The rest of the 2" Spanish Cedar I cut and use for drawer dividers. Sometimes just to halve the drawer and sometime to quarter or make a certain sized section - say 4" or 4.5" for Petite Robustos - whatever.

So that's my setup, it works well for me. Core stock where I have 5'ers or more is in the deep drawers, more random stuff in the top trays and boxes in the other wino and the cooler #3 was supposed to replace (ha ha fat chance, honey). I rotate and fill the wino from boxes as stock gets low.

Here's a link to the fans in case anyone is interested, my Spanish Cedar source is Gym_Bob_in_maine on eBay. He's great and if you have a larger order (more than just a few boards) just contact him thru eBay and he'll put together a quote for you and save you some money and shipping.

Any questions or things I can help with - PM me. Thanks for looking - hope it helps anyone who is thinking of doing a wineador.

Well you can stack 3 cigars high (4 little guys) in a regular drawer which takes up 2 slots. Since there is a little extra room on the top - I can get 3 high in those 2 trays (1 in bottom 2 in top) if I need to but usually only have 1 high in each. Just convenient to toss bombs in on top as I usually try to smoke thru those to try new stuff. Single drawers all the way up would lose you too much space since you would only get 1 high in 2 drawers instead of 3 high in the same 2 slots. That's probably 120-150 fewer sticks you can stuff in there. I don't lose any space

I understand if you tried to use the slots in the fridge that there would be a lot of "wasted" space, but I'm thinking a full insert that would accommodate single high draws!
Just a thought. Because I have draws that stack 3 high, but really don't like to handle the sticks in terms of rotating or looking for something that I know I have that may be at the bottom of the drawer. So I'm thinking, have the insert fabricated to accommodate single high draws throughout.
I guess I'll have to talk to the fabricator (John Nelson or whomever) to see if they would do it.

That is a sweet setup! Why did you go with the fans? Just for more even circulation? I have read many times about using additional fans in the wineadors. I thought about doing it to mine but never saw the need.

A full insert would work and you could space them closer together. Just cuts down a little on space and increases cost. Make sure you let me know and post some pics if you ever do that. I think you'd still lose some space with all the extra wood in there between cigars but not as much as using the slots.

I don't have the wineadors plugged in Kris so no circulation without those fans in there. But as I said - they are in my basement and it's probably a little below 65 right now so you wouldn't even go down to grab a stick !

I can't be the only one who looked at the pictures expecting to see a reflection of Tony in his underwear reflected in the front of the wineador right?
