Just a quick update. As we work to complete this project, just wanted to show the latest work in the bathroom. Instead of replacing all of the tiles, sink, toilet, vanity etc. (which would have cost a fortune I don't currently have) I decided to go with painting everything. It's pretty unconventional to paint porcelain but I decided to give it a whack. I'm doing the floors last (for obvious reasons), toilet, sink and walls are pretty much done. I'm adding the little details to everything, and then I'm doing the floors. At that point this bathroom will be out of service (as it is now) for a week or so to dry up and let things seal tight.

    This cannot end well...
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

That it will. Porcelain is a hard, non-porous, easily disinfected surface that withstands practically any household chemical. None of that can be said for a coat of paint. I wonder how to clean it now...

I am aware my friend. I definitely didn't walk into this without study first. I've been an artist of several mediums for over 30 years, and have applied what I know to securing this the best way possible...or at least what I hope to work. I don't plan on using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials to clean these areas, not to mention, I would never try this in my 2 other (main traffic) bathrooms. This bathroom will hardly be used, and my main concern would be how the paint and sealant would hold up in the toilet sitting under the water. We can only see. The sink and toilet was sealed with a water resistant sealer, so I'm hoping for the best. I have performed scratch test before painting, and don't seem I will have much an issue with that. My main concern is water damage to the paint itself. I plan on cleaning with basic, soft house cleaners...which I also tested with the painted materials before committing to what you see. I can only hope for the best.

What I will say is, this bathroom is over 12 years old...so, it's time for a new toilet etc anyway. So, worst case, I'll be replacing old stuff.

Thank you for your input btw. I appreciate your concern and advice.

Ahh, I get it. So worse case is still not that bad. You've got quite the project there so far. Must be getting anxious to be done with it.

I absolutely am ready to be done, or get into the furnishing. The great thing is I'm done with heavy construction, so a lot of the remaining work I can do myself on my days off...much like this bathroom. I'm not too far away from being in the 1st stage of completion, just this bathroom, wood planks and tile on the walls...and then my humidor.

I know it's been too damn long for anyone to care, but the cigar lounge is finally complete. It took so long for various reasons from, family life, to finding the time and resources needed to finish. Ultimately, I'm extremely happy with it and look forward to many years of smoking it up. Sometime late January I'll be shooting The Brooklyn Way cigar videos for youtube. If you're interested, check out The Brooklyn Way Cigar lounge on Facebook.
