I have a Xikar Vitara and Genesis. I use the Vitara most of the time. I also have a Black Ops lighter that i like a lot. Last summer i bought Thunderbird Zippo Insert, it works well but for some reason i don't use it much.

I went with the Xikar Exec II. Mostly because of the lifetime warranty Xikar offers, plus learning to take your time toasting with a single flame. It is easy to get a little carried away with those three and four flame lighters! If you are into larger RG cigars I might go with a two flame lighter.

If you are on a budget I hear good things about Ronson lighters but no firsthand experience.

I'll add another vote to the xikar executive II.

Works really well and you gotta love the lifetime warranty.

I'm going to pick up a zippo insert as well. No reason other than I have a zippo that has a lot of sentimental value that I would like to get into use.

Tons of great lighters out there, but for a noob who may or may not stay in the hobby you can't beat a Ronson. I have a couple of high dollar Xikars that are nice looking lighters, but the Ronson is much more reliable. Unlike the Xikars that I need to pack-up and pay to ship back to Xikar, I just toss the Ronson and buy another one for $3.

It's on the upper end of your price range, but I have a Xikar ELX that I like. It has a 9mm punch in it, too. Though I do have a Ronson that I got to take places to ensure I don't lose my expensive lighter.

I used to use a Xikar executive, it broke and I never bothered to send it in. Up until then, it was excellent.

    Ronsons are good lights too.

I use Bics. They contain butane and work just fine for me. You just have to slowly roll the cigar as you like, so you dont scorch the cigar. I keep about 3 in my pocket to alternate (because the metal can get hot if you touch it) as I slowly toast my cigars.

I've been using Ronsons for a while. I like them when they work but sometimes they just don't...so I normally bring three with me.

I've gotten kind of tired of that so I recently bought a Xikar Tech lighter off Amazon for $20 new. Great deal, $10 off MSRP and came in a sealed package. It feels like much better quality than the Ronsons and holds twice as much fluid(if not more), plus you can see the fluid level.

I support the Ronson camp as well. I use the Comet for a soft flame and the jetlite if I need a torch.

XiKar is nice with lifetime warranty and I have one that I love, however you really can't beat a Ronson for the $$. I have several Ronson's.

My vote for torch: Bugatti B-1001 on CBid for around $15. Have two of them and never have needed the backup. Lights first click every single time.
