Keeping a 2 cigars humidor in the desktop one ?

This may be a stupid question, or not.

I have one of these and I don't have any kind of humidifier for it so obviously it's pretty dry inside. I always wondered how fast it will take the humidity out of my cigars when I put them inside. I thought maybe I could leave it in my desktop humidor but it's covered in leather and I'm afraid maybe my cigars will take a smell from it.

Am I worrying for nothing here ? Is it "safe" to keep cigars in this for a day or two without having it "seasoned" ? Or can I keep it inside my bigger humidor ?

I keep my leather two-finger case in my humidor, it won't hurt a thing. I leave mine open when stored.

My vote: Leave it outside the humi. The leather, or faux leather, won't really hold any moisture. My case has a paper-thin cedar lining, which again, won't really hold any moisture.

A cigar case is fine to take out for the day. I think some folks would even say two days. After that, depending on where you are (Arizona's dryness vs. Florida's humidity), and depending on the RH of your humi, I would be conscious of the need for humidification at some point.

Get with @Drez ,Bovida makes some small packs that would fit nicely in there with a cpl sticks.

I wouldn't worry about it as that thing isn't meant for long term storage.

A day or two inside that isn't going to hurt your cigars at all.

Sure, you can keep it in the desktop if there's space. Certainly won't hurt (unless it stinks), might help a bit. You could also stuff a small Boveda into the bottom or top for extra humidification ... but it's just a two-finger case, and two cigars seldom last me long enough to get very dry.

Good call! Thats what I was gonna say.... I totally agree, stuff Boveda travel pack in there and forget about it.

It's all spanish cedar inside. Since you all agree that two days in there will not hurt the cigars I won't waste space in my larger humidor. I'll just use it for 1 or 2 days trips and get myself a travel humidor for longer runs.

There's enough wood there to actually do some good if it was humidified. I'd store it in your desktop if you can make room.

It shouldn't HURT your cigars to use it dry for a couple of days, but it could HELP them to last longer than that if it were humidified.

Just read this thread.Here's a way to add humidity/seasoning to the wood in the case without keeping the case in your humidor.There are perforated tubes that have an inner sleeve,also perforated, with a core of chalk (or chalk like, material) that are meant to be used to season a humidor. They are 44 ring gauge, when closed they're 4.7 inches, can be expanded to 8.75 inches. Should be fine for any case that you'd carry corona to churchill sized cigars in.I've not done this,but think you could replace the chalk with beads.Then when ready to add cigars to the, leave the tubes in a closed container, or in the humidor. And be good to go.
,this way you would not have to store the leather case in a humidor. If this sounds of interest, to anyone and you'd like to see what these tubes look like, let me know and I'll try to get some pix up in a say or two.
