Well that is somewhat good news. I just pulled one from backstock that wasn't a 123114 and it looks fine

That's pretty wild. Looks like they had a whole batch of them where the wood was cut a millimeter short.
Looks like their board stretcher broke down. Either that or they cut the same board 3 times and it was still too short.
It certainly sounds like the problem has been solved by now, however if I may add something to it, here goes. If you have some, or can get ahold of some Spanish cedar sawdust, I like to mix it with Titebond III and work it into cracks and gaps with a palette knife. The glue sands easily, and the Spanish cedar sawdust will absorb moisture like it's supposed to, while the glue itself will remains impervious to moisture. The other great benefit of this approach is that when sanding, the filled joint is virtually unnoticeable. Just a thought.
