Jumpin’ Railcars and Collectin' Cans
Golf Accessories
After many years of playing between 30-50 rounds of golf a year unfortunately that number fell dramatically in the last 7 years I've only played about 10 rounds and in the last 3 years I have played 0 rounds. Well that streak is about to end on Memorial day. I'm heading out for my first round in three years and was planning on burning up a couple of cigars along the way. I did not use to smoke on the course so I dont have any tools. Specifically a cigar holder to keep my burning buddy safe while hitting the ball. Anyone have any quick suggestions on a home made cigar holder or should I just try and make it out to find one to buy somewhere? I know there are a few (
@WNYTONY
) of you that like to burn em while you play so I'm up for suggestions. Also any other things helpful for smoking while playing.

Ridin' in a BoxCar
I just take my stinky cigar car ashtray out of my car/truck and put it in the cup holder of the golf cart.

Well I have a couple cutters, a punch, and about 4-5 lighters that live in my golf bag. I bring a 3 cigar Xikar case or a 5 count travel humi depending on whether it's a 9 hole league or 18 hole round and if I'm bringing one or two to give out. As for holders - I don't use one. I toss it on the ground when hitting and usually keep puffing during chips and putts so can't help you there. Unless it's early morning and the dew is out it's not a problem to toss it, but I know others will not like the sound of that. Any holder's I've ever tried are more trouble than they are worth imo, but if I was to do it I'd do a stinky or a Xikar ash can in the cup holder over the clips. I think
@Gunther7912
is a clip guy - he can weigh in.
Hit em long and stay in the short grass !
No cigar until you get a par - birdie if it's a scramble !

Thanks for the tips Tony. My plan is just to try and hit em where I can find them.

Cigar Holder 4 Pak | eBay
I have a couple of these and they work pretty well
Couple of things I've learned. I like good Bourbon and hate wet toilet paper.

Just asking...but don't you ever worry about ingesting the fertilizers that they use on the courses? Maybe I am a worry wart, but I have seen and smelt the stuff the spray/spread all over that grass and I don't want that stuff anywhere near my mouth!
I usually just lay it on top of my bag when I can't hold it or keep it in my mouth. I really should invest in one of those clips since I am always walking...

I would probably be more concerned if the course I played was a "real" course but my home course is a little 9 holer and they don't use much of anything. If I see there is anything or know there was fresh spray I'd be more careful, but honestly the 4 or 5 guys I play with that smoke do the same thing and I can't remember the last time I played with someone who actually used a clip. Of course, this habit could explain some things............. said it before one of you Bums did lol

I'm a little slow to reply but better late than never
I use a clip called the get a grip cigar clip. It is 2 spring loaded clips with a swivel connecting them. One side has a soft spring for holding your cigar and the other is a stronger spring for holding onto the cart or your bag or whatever. It works well although I am still about 50/50 using the clip and just dropping my stick on the ground.

Another option that I have seen and would like to try is the cigar brake. It gives you a protected place to set your cigar safely. The only downside for the course is you have to carry the Cigar brake with you. I may have to pick one up to try soon.

Here is most of my golfing cigar paraphernalia I carry around in the mini golf bag: a cutter, a handful of lighters and a Cigar rest/ divot tool.
DIVPRO® - Six Tools In One! The ultimate Golf companion.
I use this mostly on the greens when I'm putting or on the tee box. I don't like to lay my cigar on the ground; mostly because I usually play early mornings when the ground is dew laden.

@Gunther7912
mentioned, I also use the Get a Grip Clip.
For a full round, I bring a 5-cigar Herf-a-dor and/ or a 3-cigar leather case like
@WNYTONY
if I'm bringing extra to dole out.
There is likely a 2-3 more cheap lighters like Ronson jet-kites or Bics throughout my bag; you can't have too many.

I have one of those that I was bombed and have been considering mounting it on our golf cart to use, but I usually just grab a few clubs and walk ahead so I don't think I'd use it that much. I'll send it on if you want - it's just sitting here and I'd rather someone have it who will actually use it.
