    Bovedas for 74qt container

Anyone able to work out the math on how many 320gr bovedas would be needed for a 74qt container?

I found someone's calculations through a Google search, but it came out to needing ten which seems pretty extreme.

Someone on one of the forums mentioned only needing 2 for a roughly 50qt container.

All depends on the seal and how often you open it. Plastic container with a seal: I'd just use the standard ones. What are they, 60 gm? I'd toss half a dozen in there and call it good. I have a 6 gallon bucket with an O-ring lid and it holds just fine with 1 regular size, 65% pack. These things don't need to be over thought.

It has a foam seal and is supposed to be weatherproof, so it should be airtight or very close to it.

Have heartfelt beads in it currently and even though the pound is almost completely dry, my rh was 75% this morning as the a/c isn't working so the room temperature was 75 degrees, but both hygrometers in the container were reading 71 degrees.

Its been fine at 65% for 2 weeks, even when the a/c went out twice before, so I'm not really trusting the beads to work as they're supposed to

Well, if your temperature is fluctuating that's going to have an effect on relative humidity. Every time the temp changes it's going to take a while for the rh to stabilize and if the temp is in the process of rising or falling it's anyone's guess where the rh is going to be at any given time. I wouldn't be making any changes at all till you're able to get the room temperature stabilized. Could be something else too: like it would have an effect if you've recently added a few boxes of new, wet cigars.

In a few months during the colder months you will likely be fighting to get the Rh higher. I have no idea why you are having such trouble maintaining humidity using the beads. I have never seen anyone have so much trouble. On another forum I chimed in on your thread using beads and they were way too wet (your welcome) and all was well and now it's messed up again. I don't know what to tell ya. Good luck!

Yeah, I remember you responding to that thread.

They were definitely way too wet as its holding at 65% again and the beads look completely dry to me.

Heartfelt's tutorial says to wet about half the beada, so that's what I did and it was way too much. They clearly only need to have a tiny amount of water.
Took quite a while to dry them out so they were at their correct rh.

No idea what happened yesterday to make the rh spike that much when none of my tupperdoors with bovedas changed at all.

Am seriously considering switching to 320gr bovedas next month if I have any more problems with the beads
