High altitude butane

Recently someone mentioned that they use high altitude butane. What's the difference vs regular butane?

At what altitude would high altitude butane be recommended?

My Google searches have come up empty on answers.

I have never heard of that. Maybe they are using a higher purity butane.

Yeah, i read that too as someone on my other forum linked it.

So far, its the only info I have come across.

I know my Neon 11x was just fine at over 10,000 for 3 days, so not sure what the real deal is

I can believe that pressures can change so if you had a massive change in altitude you might needed to purge then refill a lighter to "normalize" pressure. Maybe adjust the flow a little but thats all hypothesis on my part.

Butane not sure I think there was something about altitude and that was the reason for the xikar strato???

I have no idea what the blackmagic fuckery of the blend is, but this is the best butane I've come across. Set your flame with the butane you're using and then purge and put this in, and you'll have to turn it down.

Haven't had a clog since I started using it.

Still not sure what is different about high altitude butane as my lighters worked just fine going from 4500ft up to over 10,000ft for 3 days, and i noticed no issues, needing to adjust the flame, purge and refill, etc. With my cheap, but very clean Neon 11x.

Starting to think Xikar is pulling a fast one and its a marketing gimmick.

May contact them and see if they offer a reasonable explanation.

Not sure how accurate their answer is or how reliable the information is on that website…
