Prelight: The wrapper is toothy and rustic looking. I say rustic due to some wrinkles where the veins are that give an appearance of age and uncouthness. It has a floral aroma while the foot smells of chocolate and wood. After a punch, the draw is spot-on and woody.

1/3: There is a slight pepper kick right off the bat, and a taste of cinnamon. The Artesanito is putting off some good smoke. Soon, a strong wood taste overtakes the flavors, but there is also a slight chocolate flavor. The chocolate is very minor, however. I am mostly getting spicy wood, like cedar.

2/3: The second third adds just a dash of citrus, but is for all intents and purposes, the same. Towards the end of the second third I pick up what may be nuts, but it is mild and fleeting. I do get a little tunneling, which a quick touch up takes care of.

3/3: The final third seems to bring the cigar full circle, as I begin to get notes of cinnamon again. Other than that, more cedar.

Overall: For the price, this cigar is underwhelming. It’s good, don’t get me wrong. But, it’s a one-hit wonder. Cedar…with maybe a little nuts, spices and chocolate. But the latter are very minimal. The construction was copacetic. This cigar passes, but won’t be getting any scholarships to an Ivy League any time soon.
