Hey guys the Spanish Cedar is supposed to get in next week so the drawer building will start very shortly!!! Before I get started I really wanted some advice.
This is what I know that I want for sure..... I want the bottom drawer to have a false bottom to cover up the Heartfelt beads and the fans. I want one shelf at the very top in case I ever decide to buy a box or two. I would like for one of the drawers to be 2 inches tall or however tall that is needed to comfortably put one layer of cigars in as I want to reserve my "special" 2 inch drawer for my high end smokes such as my Padron 1926, Opus X, GOF etc etc. I do not want to put these cigars in a standard drawer where I am constantly shuffling through them damaging them. Nor do I want to put them in the bottom of a standard drawer as sometimes I just like looking at my nicer sticks and showing them off to my buddies..... I know I am super weird!!!
Do you think that having one shorter 2 inch drawer is a mistake and I should go with all standard drawers? Any suggestions on configuration as I do not want to make a mistake that I regret. The only thing I know for certain is that I want a bottom drawer with a false bottom and one shelf.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Personally, I am making all of mine 2" drawers, but I wanted it that way so they could act as a drawer, or a shelf.

One bit of advice...have all of your safety shields etc. on your table saw if you are using one...don't ask me how I know.

Also, welcome!! Glad you found your way to the rest of we bums.

Ilroy, with your 2 inch drawers...... can you stack 2 layers of cigars if you wanted to? For example if I had 10 Padron 1926 could I have a section of my 2 inch drawer where I stacked them on top of each other (5 on top of the 5) or is the 2" drawer too shallow for that?

I haven't finished them yet due to a table saw mishap that has delayed me, so I can't answer that for sure. I am fairly sure that I will be able to go at least 2 high though, 3 at the max, unless you are going with 70 rg :stogie:. Even if I have to do an offset stack it should work fine, kind of like the bottom two rows of a pyramid shape.

Perfect.... thanks a ton. Totally random, but what the heck happened to puff.com? The site was constantly crashing so I just figured it was crashed until weeks started to pass then I began to suspect that it was gone for good.

From what I've gathered, the owners just up and killed it out of the blue. I am not one of those in the know, but it basically is no longer.

I have 2 short height drawers that would hold 1-2 high depending on size and I really like that. But I have all drawers and no shelves.

Glad to see you found us and made it over - you were on our MIA list !

I have no problem being confident here...Herf-n-turf set this one up within about a week(?) of puff closing, and alot of the same people have been coming over as we discover it. It seems to have pretty much picked up where the old one left off, but better.

With Don as the man in charge and the team of mods and admins he has, Cigar Bum will be a great place!

It crashed last time for over a week. I noticed the lack of non-forum postings as they were doing before after it came back up. Owners seemed less interested.

I am perfectly happy over here.

Hey guys, does anyone have a picture of how they organized their cigars in a standard drawer and a 2" drawer so I can see the difference and see which one would work for me the best?

I would personally recommend not doing 2" drawers for a couple reasons, but primarily because they use more wood which drives the cost up, takes up more space and holds 1/3 the number of cigars. Even if you do two for every normal drawer you end up losing 1/3 of the total space and personally I don't think they look as nice. I went with 3 normal drawers, one extended front and two shelves. My thread is lower on this page or you can check out the "Show your Wineador" thread and I have some pics in there as well.
