Just started going on E Bay cause I was looking for art print I had seen elsewhere. I had been there a long time ago and thought they did not sell tobacco products but went into their tobacco section ( forget the fancy word they use ) .
Went there and saw people had boxes for sale, some said sealed but were like advertising the cigar bands for sale and not mentioning the cigars that would be in a sealed box. Other ads were definitely for cigars as pictured and described.

So, guess tobacco products are ok on Ebay and has anyone ever bought cigars on Ebay ?? Just asking. Think I remember why I stopped fooling with ebay long time ago as my picture purchase has not gone through yet cause they say there is some problem with seller accepting payment .

They have some nice humidors, Daniel Marshall etc on there

I’d avoid that at all costs. You never know who’s really selling them, what you’ll actually get and I’m sure you can find sticks from legitimate sources for similar prices.

I have bought a few cigars - very carefully - on the bay. It's been a couple of years since anything has grabbed my attention. I've picked up a few nice clear Havana sticks that smoked well. I lost one auction and within a week the cigars showed up for sale in the clear Havana section at Gotham Cigar Museum. My best buy might be a little box of Arbonne cigars - Belgian made pre-embargo time frame. I bought a Disney World 3-cigar box (for the box) and when it came it had the cigars in it - totally unexpected. I've smoked 1. It wasn't bad - kind of a fun experience.

I like to pick up old tobacco tins there once in a while and sometimes they come with tobacco included. Some had aged well and some was ruined, but of course I wasn't buying for the tobacco, just the tins.

Some sellers there are pushing relatively new tobacco under the guise of collectible tins, but like the poster above says, you're better off going to legit dealers.

most of the prices on ebay are higher than what you should pay and i would not buy off there myself because of the risk. They could have pictured the whole cigar with bands and you make the purchase and get just the bands. I would think that would be hard to fall back on paypal to because you did receive the bands lol. When i think of people selling cigars on ebay i think of people looking to just make money. With all the facebook groups and forums around you should be able to find whatever you are looking for and most likely get it for a better price.

thanks for the responses, like I say I was looking at some prints and went into the tobacco section. Was mainly looking at old stuff like cigar Indians and stumbled on some actual cigar products and was surprised to see cigars for sale. I would be very cautious and compare prices before really buying any cigars . Just curious about anyone else's experience there.

I've looked around, but never pulled the trigger.

I'll still be hearing about you and this patch when I'm crapping my pants into a diaper in the nursing home

I've both bought and sold. It's against eBay policy, so they use "collectible" as a workaround. But if you're reported, even if it is a collectible, they will remove, and eventually punish you as a seller for repeat violations.

It's risky because you have no recourse for fake/uncared for/otherwise undesirable cigars you receive, because you're technically bidding on bands and boxes.

I will say, cigars fetch a mighty premium on the bay - but profits aren't as high as you'd imagine, because you still have ebay fees and paypal fees on the final sale price, then shipping if it's included. Yeah, it was a nice way to move boxes of cigars for a while, but the hassle eventually wasn't worth it, as I sell in a store that has a very strong non-tobacco eBay presence, this was just a side thing.

Thank you very much "Mr. Super Secret" as I make a lot of my so called paltry living from the bay. It's just like the rest of life, and one must do their homework. I'm not buying a 2.5k couch from Fanny's Farmhouse Furniture and Fritter Fantasy Wharehouse. One can simply click on the buyers Feedback and get a pretty good idea of who you're dealing with. I've only been on there since 2009, but have over16k transactions, 9300'ish rating at 100% satisfaction. I'm not saying that you should buy from me, but what I'm saying is that many of us try VERY hard to make every customer feel that he can buy from me/us with confidence. I certainly don't want to be lumped into a group of people that doesn't give a shit about their customers as that can't be further from the truth. As far as tobacco, I can't speak for anyone......
